Pumpkin Spice Latté Protein Shake

It’s pumpkin season AND it’s been a while since I posted a good protein shake recipe. This one is awesome because well…it’s coffee and pumpkin and protein powder so how could it not be? I love this pumkin spice latté flavor for right before or even after a good workout. They are mostly a weekend treat for me because weekdays I’m grabbing a real breakfast after my workout. Weekends I typically eat big before and do the protein thing after. This is the perfect way to avoid that post-workout exhaustion thanks to the coffee!

Pumpkin Spice Latte Protein Shake

Of course, the secret to keeping it healthy is blending in REAL pumpkin. I find most protein powders are sweet enough that I typically don’t add more sugar to my smoothies other than in fruit form, so that keeps the added sugar to a minimum. I also like my smoothies with plant-based protein and milk because I bloat too much from dairy.

So skip the $5 sugar-and-cream-loaded Pumpkin Spice Latté from Starbucks and down this delicious combination of protein and carbs instead! Your body will thank you! Also, this can be served hot or cold depending on your coffee temp. I sometimes will brew extra coffee to save for later if I want it in a smoothie like this (or just a plain old iced coffee). However, this recipe works with hot coffee too if you need to warm up!

  1. Place all ingredients in the blender. Blend well and enjoy! If drinking cold, add some ice cubes!

*or use a blend of 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp ginger, and 1/2 tsp allspice. **I use unsweetened Almond Milk
